Dr. Perumal Janarthanan, widely known as Dr. Jana, is a Specialist Medical Practitioner in General Pathology with extensive experience since 1981. Throughout his distinguished career, he has served as a Senior Visiting Medical Officer at prominent hospitals, including Taree Base Hospital, Coffs Harbour Hospital, Albury Hospital, Orange Base Hospital, and Nepean Hospital. Dr. Jana established and successfully operated his private pathology laboratory until 2006, employing approximately 50 staff members.

Currently, he serves as a Senior Consultant and Supervising Pathologist for Wise Pathology, Bankstown, where he oversees around 70 employees. His status as an Approved Pathology Practitioner significantly contributes to the laboratory’s eligibility for Medicare benefits.

Beyond his medical contributions, Dr. Jana is deeply engaged in religious and spiritual activities. He was the first Patron of Sri Venkateswara Temple in Helensburgh and actively participated in its development, serving in various leadership roles, including President and Secretary, until 2000. Notably, the Kumbabishekam ceremonies for the Sri Sivan complex and part of the Sri Venkateswara Temple were celebrated during his presidency.

A devoted Vedantic seeker inspired by Swami Chinmayananda’s teachings since the early days of his professional life, Dr. Jana has consistently participated in Geetha Yagnas led by revered spiritual leaders such as Swami Chinmayananda, Swami Tejomayananda, and Swami Swaroopananda. Guided by these masters, he completed comprehensive Bhagavad Gita and Vedanta courses offered by Chinmaya Mission. Additionally, Dr. Jana has been facilitating the Vanaprastha Zoom sessions for six years, conducting two weekly sessions.

The teachings of Swami Chinmayananda and the revered Guru Parampara profoundly shaped Dr. Jana’s professional ethos and personal philosophy, deeply rooted in the Bhagavad Gita’s wisdom.
